How do I book time?

All bookings at Shift VRArcade are done in advance through our online booking system, using the following steps:

  1. Pick your station
  2. Pick your preferred time slot on our simple booking system.
  3. Ensure each person attending has created an account and agreed to all Terms and Conditions (patrons under 18 years-old must have their account accompanied by a parent/guardian at Shift VRArcade before their VR session).
  4. Complete your payment – that’s it!

Can I book more than one session in a row?

Yes! You can book as many sessions as your heart desires.

How many people can participate at one time?

Each station can accommodate one (1) person operating a VR system at a time.  However, if you have a Shift Membership, you will be able to share the space (and time) for the duration of your booking!

Can I play a game with the person in the station next to me?

Definitely.  Certain software titles will enable you to join your friends in the game.  You will be able to communicate with them through the built-in headset microphone, and see your friends’ actions performed by their avatars!

What types of games can I play?

The answer to this is both simple and complex.  We offer Steam, a content distribution software.  Within that platform, you will have access to a number of VR titles.  So, within a single booking, you can decide what game(s) you want to play from our library!

Is there an age limit for Shift VRArcade?

The minimum height for a Shift VRArcade customer is 48″.  This is due to the physical stature (height, pupil-width, etc.) necessary for an ideal VR experience.  Any Shift VRArcade customers under the age of 18 must have their parent/guardian present at the start of the booking to sign the Terms and Conditions on behalf of their child.

How much does it cost?

Shift VRArcade is equipped with tablets at our location with internet access in the event you weren’t able to pre-book, brought an extra person, or need to sign the Terms and Conditions document for your child.

Safety FAQ

Am I going to walk into walls?

Highly unlikely.  Thanks, mostly, to HTC’s incredible Chaperone system, you will have a very good sense of where you are located in real space while playing the VR content.  Should you approach any walls, other people, chairs, etc. in the VR station, the Chaperone system will project a blue hologram of that obstacle inside the game.  Yes – this sounds like science fiction, but we ensure you it is now science fact.

Is there a minimum / maximum height for a guest?

Technically, there is no minimum height, but users at least four (4) feet or taller will have a better VR experience.  On the flip side, any guest who is seven (7) feet or taller may also experience a less-optimal VR experience.

I wear prescription glasses - do I have to take them off?

Not likely!  The HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) features slots to allow the average pair of eyewear to fit inside while using the system.  The Vive also features adjustment knobs to configure the focus for each eye independently, and a separate adjustment knob to match the screen separation to that of your eyes!

Are there any physical limitations that would prevent me from participating?

The optimal VR experience requires users to move their head and neck, and have use of at least one hand to interact with the environment.  At Shift VRArcade, we can accommodate most skill, mobility and cognitive levels for a range of guests. We even have wheelchair accessible stations.

However, be sure to consult your doctor before using visiting Shift VRArcade if you have pre-existing serious medical conditions (such as a heart ailment), conditions that affect your ability to safely perform physical activities, psychiatric conditions (such as anxiety disorders or post-traumatic stress disorder), or if you are pregnant or elderly.

You should avoid visiting Shift VRArcade if you are sick, fatigued, under the influence of intoxicants/drugs, or are not feeling generally well, as it may exacerbate your condition.

What happens if I experience motion sickness / unexpected side effects while using a VR system?

As with any motion-related entertainment, some people may be susceptible to unexpected side-effects during the VR session.

Should you feel uneasy at any point, we ask that you stop the VR session and inform a Shift VRArcade staff member promptly.
